Untangling some neon orange yarn.
Practice at 7:30PM. Fat Baby after that.
Saturday is the Lazy Susan show.
Free Santogold show the day after.
I let Max cut my hair yesterday.
I'm no fan of litter.
But if you're going to throw your trash on the street, please let it be your newspaper.
It's not uncommon for me to kneel down and flip through the pages of the daily paper in search of a crossword.
That's what happened this morning on my way to work.
It's like a little tiny present for me.
I haven't finished solving the puzzle yet:
And I have a short attention span today.
Although we typically post on Team Vox to let you know about things that are going on with Vox (to, uh, state the obvious), once in a while, we like to let you know about other cool things that are happening around the blogosphere. And we think the idea of four hilarious mommy bloggers traveling across the U.S. on their way to the BlogHer '08 conference - all the while blogging and video blogging the journey - is one trip you will not want to miss.
Four adventurous bloggers from the Silicon Valley Moms Group were selected to participate in the Summer Road Trip '08 and blog about their travels, hotel stays, media appearances, time away from their families, and life on the road. Six Apart helped them partner up with General Motors, who provided the blogging mommies with a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV to help make their journey comfy, safe, and a little more green.
In case you're not familiar with them, SV Moms is a group of over 200 bloggers who showcase the ups, downs, outrages, struggles, victories, and everyday humor of motherhood. There are currently nine regional and demographically tailored sites that give mothers from D.C., New Jersey, the Deep South, Rocky Mountains, L.A., and Silicon Valley a powerful voice and sense of camaraderie across the country. Whether you're a mother, a child, or just a person who enjoys a good blog, you'll really love reading the words of these amazing women.
The moms buckled into their Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV on July 11th and even got an encouraging message from Katie Couric to kick things off! They are currently somewhere in the middle of America making their way to San Francisco where they'll attend an SV Moms Group Party, as well as BlogHer '08.
You do not want to miss these entertaining and irreverent bloggers -- or their spontaneous contest giveaways! -- as they blog from the road. Experience the journey at MomRoadTrip.com.
And let us know about your summer road trip - or plane/boat/bus trip - in the comments! (I like to live vicariously.)
Yesterday I was walking home and passed by this empty storefront on Van Brunt Street.
I always look inside cuz there are always random things inside for some reason (and toys and games too). But when I looked inside yesterday, I saw all these chicks (I think) in a swimming pool for kiddies:
I think they're way cute.
But I'm just worried what they're there for.
I saw a box near the window that read "LIVE CHICKS" or something like that... Dunno what that's all about.
P.S.
David B. is in NYC.
Apparently my friend Jessica (of Slow Loris) was struck by lightening.
I'm glad she's still alive!
(Especially since I just sent her a couple shirts in the mail last week.)
Anywho, a bit bummed/stressed today, but it's only temporary.
These things are only temporary.
Yesterday Ben J. and I met up with Crompy and his friend Lisa to go to the Brooklyn Museum because it was the last day of the Takashi Murakami exhibit.
I guess this was my favorite piece because I can't stop looking at it:
Oh, well.
At least I got to get green tea ice cream at the automat after we were done at the museum.
P.S.
Lazy Susan is playing a show next Saturday in Williamsburg. =)
SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!

In other news:
Last night David B. left me a voicemail in which he sang that song "Blue Moon".
I really liked it. And I liked his little singing voice. Vibrato and such. It was all nice.
I'm going to try and find a way to record it onto my computer and post it on here.
Hope he doesn't mind!
(He will totally mind.)

This is me by the end of yesterday:
We went to this bar in Williamsburg called Barcade.
You know, bar + arcade.
There were a lot of arcade games, though I expected it to be more more arcade-like, less bar-like.
I kinda wanted it to be really claustrophobic like arcades actually are. I think that would've been pretty awesome.
I had an okay (bad okay, not good okay) time, but I had a really good rest of the day.
I went to SuperMac (this food place that only serves macaroni and cheese and variations of macaroni and cheese---I had chipotle chicken mac and cheese) with Ben J. And then he and I went to this place called Bamn Automat to get green tea ice cream. Soft serve, of course.
This place is kinda strange:
Basically it's a big vending machine. You put in your coins and get your food out.
The shaved ice and ice cream you get from behind the counter.
There's always really bumpin' music playing in there, too. Like techno songs.
(They like to play Madonna remix songs.)
After that I went to Lillian's studio in Greenpoint so that we could have our Lazy Susan reunion session.
I think it went very well.
We even got some photos out of it:
It was good stuff.
Afterwards, Sarah J. met up with us, and we made a quick stop at this bar in Williamsburg that serves you your drinks in Styrofoam cups with a lid and straw so you can walk around outside---tho I don't think that part is spoken out loud.
We went across the street to McCarren Park to meet up with Emily Jo.
And there we sat on the grass and talked and watched fireflies and enjoyed the nice summer evening.
x!c
P.S.
I'm really into fireflies.
I just saw one for the first time a couple weeks ago.
Do you live in or around Cincinnati, Ohio? If so, you're in luck because Scott and the Queen City Voxers Group have organized a Vox user meetup!
WHERE: Ault Park Playground. 3600 Observatory Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208. "We'll look for each other at the playground marked by the red X below. If it's raining, head for the shelter to the north of the [red] X."
To RSVP (which is not essential, but is appreciated), reply to Scott's announcement or send him a private message. All Voxers, as well as their friends and family, are welcome to attend.
If you do attend the meetup, have a great time and please take lots of pictures and send them to me so I can post them in Team Vox for everyone to see!
Thank you so much to Scott for organizing this meetup. Wish I could be there!
That's how I old I am according to my Texas ID.
But today I turned 24.
(That's the cake my sister made for me on my 22nd birthday. Awesome.)
(That's a birthday card/collage Lillian G. made for me on my 22nd birthday. Awesome.)
Here's what I've got in store for the day:
-watch "Clueless" by myself because it's one of my favorite movies
-meet up with Ben J. in Manhattan and have lunch (and shaved ice?)
-go to Brooklyn and have a Lazy Susan reunion session with Lillian G. (I'm very excited! Best birthday gift to myself.)
-Mexican restaurant and a pitcher of margaritas
-go get drunk with my friends
Let's hope it goes this way.
ALSO!
I'm very excited about this:
Venus Magazine has featured me as their Reader of the Week!
Read it.
Okay.
Off to watch "Clueless".
x!

P.S.
Got a new guitar and amp yesterday. Holler.
